Why?
Why and what we Believe
Apologetics
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15 (King James Version)
Also
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Hosea 4:6 (King James Version)
We believe in equipping the saints, (regardless of whether a new believer or a seasoned veteran) to always be ready to give an answer for the faith the hold, to refer to the Bible and to not reject Godly knowledge. It is our desire to counsel and equip the people of Exeter with sound Biblical knowledge.
But knowledge is not the be all and end all! We hope and pray to show those who are equipped how to lovingly present a case for the gospel and love on the people they are witnessing to.
Creation of the World
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1 (King James Version)
Also
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2 (King James Version)
We believe in a literal creation account as described in the book of Genesis, that God created the world in 6 days in a perfect state.
Man’s sinful nature
And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Genesis 3:6 (King James Version)
We believe that due to man’s sin as described in Genesis 3, we went from a perfect world to a sinful world, a world where death and judgement occurred from then on. This is the world we inherited today, and man broke the perfect communion with God by sinning.
Who Christ Jesus is
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. Acts 3:26 (King James Version)
We believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, both God and flesh, born of a virgin in Bethlehem. He came to redeem this sinful world and by his death on the cross, he paid the price for our sins.
The Word of God
We believe the Bible is the infallible and perfect Word of God. Written over a time span of over 1500 years by about 40 authors, the Bible is the Word of God and details Gods plan and Gods will for us.
Israel
We reject all forms of “replacement theology” We believe that God has not or will never forsake the Children of Israel. We as Christians should not “boast against the branches”. (Romans 11) We should be friends to both the Jewish people and the State of Israel, showing them the true messiah Jesus Christ.
The End of the World
We believe in Pre Tribulation rapture, that the saints will be taken up to heaven prior to the end of the World and the unveiling of the Antichrist.
Calvary Chapel
We teach according to the Calvary Chapel Distinctives, this is the document that states Calvary Chapel’s position in many areas of doctrine. It can be found here.
